This wine is expressing rich aromas of rich, ripe, red berry fruit with undertones of sweet blond oak, light caramel, and mocha. On the palate, the wine is lush with a deep core of ripe fruit on the mid palate. It is wonderfully balanced through to the finish, with richness in depth of body and also in character of tannins.

The Yewell Vineyard is a tiny property located on Ehlers Lane in the St. Helena sub-appellation of Napa Valley. The fruit from this vineyard has been coming to Monticello Vineyards since approximately 1982, just after the vineyard was first planted. The rocky well drained vineyard produces intense small berried clusters that produce similarly intense wines. The wine from this vineyard has been an important component our Corley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ever since.

In the late 1990s Nancy and Dave Yewell acquired this elegant St. Helena property. After farming it for a few years, an intensive replanting effort was initiated. Special planting materials, trellis design and systems were utilized to achieve the highest quality from this particular site. The Corley family has worked very closely and collaboratively with the Yewell family to create a stunning wine. While the wine continues as an important component of the our Corley Reserve Cabernet, we have produced this Single Vineyard offering since 2006.

Ratings
Wine Spectator 93 points Juicy and youthfully compact, with a core of enticing raspberry, blackberry and black currant fruit waiting to unwind. Features lively bramble, savory and floral notes throughout and a racy, mouthwatering feel at the very end. Tuck this away for a little bit. Best from 2022 through 2030.—J.M.
Vineyard Notes
As of the time of this writing, the 2015 vintage represents the fourth of five consecutive years of phenomenal quality wines from our vineyards and across Napa Valley. 2015 remained a relatively dry growing season, and the crop yields across our different vineyards was generally lower than normal. The fruit displayed great purity and intensity, which was translated quite well through to the finished wines. The growing season was relatively consistent, with no major heat spikes. In general, the wines from 2015 are displaying ripe fruit, great structure and balance.
