With the exception of a slight heat spike in June, the weather remained consistent
throughout the 2013 growing season. The vines embraced the easy year by offering
ripe fruit characteristics and resolved tannins. When a vintage delivers such fantastic
fruit from the field, it further inspires the cellar to help maintain and elevate the
quality of the resulting wine. Alcohol 14.4%

76 % Cabernet Sauvignon
13 % Cabernet Franc
11 % Merlot

Vineyard Notes
The Jefferson Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon blend is always an enjoyable wine to assemble each year. We generally have a relatively high proportion (up to 25%) of varietals other than Cabernet Sauvignon used in the blend so we can explore some additional layers of interest in terms of varietal aromas and textural complexity. Historically, Merlot has been a primary blending component for this wine, as we have really enjoyed the pairing of the soft tannin-higher acid Merlot with the higher tannin-lower acid Cabernet lots. Cabernet Franc has long played a supporting role in the Jefferson Cuvee. With careful farming and patience nearing harvest, we feel that the grape has earned its place as a master blender in our cellar.
Winemaker Notes
This wine has a deep, inky color from the hallmark extraction of the 2013 Vintage. The aromas offer dark red and black berry fruits, wonderfully intertwined with mocha, chocolate and lightly toasted oak.
