Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L | Reserve | 2016

Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L | Reserve | 2016
Corley | Napa Valley | 1.5L

Since it’s first bottling in 1982, our CORLEY ‘RESERVE’ Cabernet Sauvignon has been our flagship wine.

We utilize the strengths of each of our five cabernet sauvignon vineyards and the diversity of four distinct sub-Appellations - Rutherford, Yountville, St. Helena and Oak Knoll District - to give us the luxury of producing a full, rich and complex Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Typically luscious, powerful and richly textured our RESERVE is full-bodied and while ready to drink is also a wine to lay down for the years to come. Aromatics of juicy red fruits, toasty sweet oak and hints of vanilla. Flavors follow similarly, most notably rich berry pie as the wine opens up. This wine once again shows nice consistency and balance throughout the entire experience – from the aromatics through to the finish. The mouth-feel is rich in texture and with finish framed by firm but velvety tannins, one of the hallmarks of this wine.

Wine Profile & Ratings
Tasting Notes
This wine displays expressive aromas of dark black and blue berries, cassis, mocha and hints of sweet toasted vanilla oak and spice tones. On the palate the wine is richly textured, wonderfully balanced from front to back with dark ripe flavors, full body, and robust tannins. It has a long, lingering finish with a rich texture and slight grip that will help this wine age gracefully for 20 or more years.
Ratings
CONNOISSERS GUIDE – TWO STARS (91-94 points) “A highly distinctive wine." As lithe and well-mannered as it is so very deep in defined fruit and arguably the most complex wine of the very good Corley bunch, the winery's Reserve offering is a serious, beautifully layered look at Cabernet with all of the richness and range that makes the Napa Valley version so renowned. It is full and wonderfully pliant in feel despite being fit with plenty of grippy but never-harsh tannins that guarantee great things with age, and it should begin reaching its polished plateau in another half-dozen or so years. Wine Spectator 91 Points - Direct, with a big splash of fig, boysenberry and plum compote flavors, followed by tinges of mocha, black licorice and singed alder on the finish. Best from 2020 through 2029. 900 cases made. — JM
Vineyard Notes
We’re very excited about the 2015 vintage. As of the time of this writing, the 2015 vintage represents the fourth of five consecutive years of phenomenal quality wines from our vineyards and across Napa Valley. 2015 remained a relatively dry growing season, and the crop yields across our different vineyards was generally lower than normal. The fruit displayed great purity and intensity, which was translated quite well through to the finished wines. In general, the wines from 2015 are displaying ripe fruit, great structure and balance.
